Detailed information

General overview of Skuntank

Skuntank is a Poison and Dark-type Pokémon introduced in the Sinnoh region. It is known by the English name Skuntank and the Japanese name スカタンク. It is the direct evolution of Stunky, a Pokémon already known for its odor, but Skuntank multiplies that power many times over. In the Pokédex, Skuntank is described as a Pokémon that uses toxic gases stored in its tail to attack and defend itself, making it a serious threat in battle.

This Pokémon stands out for its playstyle oriented toward damage and constant pressure. Thanks to its dual Poison and Dark typing, it has a good balance between offensive moves and useful resistances. Skuntank is often used as a versatile attacker capable of hindering the opponent with moves that have secondary effects.

Base stats and key information

Skuntank's base stats show a solid Pokémon designed to last while dealing consistent damage. Its HP is decent, its Defense is stable, and its Attack allows it to make effective use of its Poison and Dark-type moves.

  • Approximate height of 1 meter

  • Weight close to 38 kg

  • Listed in the Sinnoh Pokédex with a generation-specific number

  • Average catch rate, similar to Stunky

Its weight and height place it in the category of intermediate Pokémon, easy to integrate into a team without any particular penalty related to certain moves or held items.

Poison and Dark typing in battle

Skuntank's Poison type allows it to poison its opponents and resist Grass and Fairy-type moves effectively. The Dark type provides a strategic immunity to Psychic moves, which increases its value in many battles.

This type combination makes Skuntank particularly interesting against Pokémon that are frail or oriented toward Special Attack. However, it remains vulnerable to certain types such as Ground, which requires careful anticipation during battles.

Main moves and useful abilities

Skuntank's move set is centered on disruption and sustained damage. It naturally learns several highly effective Poison moves, as well as Dark moves capable of surprising the opponent.

  • Poison Jab to deal heavy Poison damage

  • Sludge to exploit the raw power of the Poison type

  • Crunch to make use of its Dark typing

  • Sludge Bomb to hit multiple targets in certain formats

Thanks to TMs and level-up moves, Skuntank can adapt to different playstyles, whether in solo battles, doubles, or certain specific formats such as level-50 battles.

Evolution from Stunky

Skuntank is the natural evolution of Stunky. The evolution occurs simply by leveling up, making it an accessible Pokémon during the main adventure. Once evolved, it gains a clear boost to its stats, particularly in HP and Attack.

This evolution transforms a rather fragile Pokémon into a far more stable threat, capable of fully exploiting its toxic odor and Poison moves. For players, evolving Stunky into Skuntank is often a logical choice for reinforcing a team oriented toward damage.

Appeal for cards and other games

In the card game world, Skuntank has several versions, including certain Skuntank V cards, appreciated for their effects tied to Poison and progressive damage. These cards can hold some value depending on their rarity and condition.

In Pokémon GO, Skuntank retains a similar role with good Poison DPS and decent utility in specific raids. Its ability and nature can influence its performance, which encourages players to carefully choose their specimen during capture.
