Overview of Skeledirge
Skeledirge is a Pokémon of Fire and Ghost type introduced in the ninth generation. It is known in French as Flâmigator and in Japanese as ラウドボーン. It is the final evolution of Fuecoco, making it a very popular starter Pokémon among players of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Skeledirge stands out for its massive appearance and its musical theme tied to voice and flames. Unlike many Fire type Pokémon that focus on Speed, it adopts a more defensive profile, with high HP and an excellent ability to hold its own in battles over time.
Type and weaknesses
Skeledirge's dual Fire and Ghost type gives it a very distinctive strategic identity. It benefits from several useful resistances while having clear weaknesses that players must anticipate.
Primary weaknesses against Water, Ground, Rock, Ghost, and Dark type attacks
Full immunity against Normal and Fighting type moves
Resistance to Fire, Grass, Ice, Poison, Bug, and Steel type attacks
This dual typing allows Skeledirge to integrate easily into teams oriented toward strategic battles, particularly as a counter to many physical Pokémon.
Base stats
Skeledirge's stats reflect its role as a special offensive tank. It is designed to absorb damage while dealing powerful Fire attacks over time.
High HP allowing great longevity in battle
Very solid Special Attack
Decent Defense, with even more reliable Special Defense
Low Speed, which imposes a more patient playstyle
Thanks to this stat spread, Skeledirge excels in extended battles, particularly in solo strategy or Tera Raids.
Key moves
Skeledirge has an excellent Fire and Ghost-oriented movepool. Its signature move is Torch Song, a special Fire attack that gains in power with each successive use.
Torch Song to accumulate offensive boosts
Shadow Ball for reliable Ghost type coverage
Flamethrower for consistent Fire type damage
Bite or Dark type moves as an option depending on the set
It can also learn useful support moves, making it adaptable to multiple combat styles.
Ability and battle strategy
Its primary ability reinforces its special orientation and synergizes perfectly with its Fire type moves. In battle, Skeledirge is often used as a defensive pivot capable of turning a situation around thanks to its growing power.
It is particularly effective against slow opponents or those dependent on Normal or Fighting type moves. However, it must be wary of fast attackers capable of hitting it on its weaknesses.
Usefulness in the games and Trading Card Game
In the Pokémon games, Skeledirge is an excellent choice for completing the adventure thanks to its stability and reliable stats from level 40 and beyond. It is also very appreciated in Tera Raids for its ability to endure and deal consistent damage.
On the card side, Skeledirge cards appear regularly in recent sets. Cards highlight its high HP, powerful Fire moves, and dark musical theme, making it a sought-after card by collectors and Pokémon TCG players alike.
