Detailed information
Overview of Sandaconda
Sandaconda is a Ground type Pokémon introduced in the eighth generation. It is known by the English name Sandaconda and the Japanese name サダイジャ. This serpentine Pokémon impresses with its massive size and its ability to manipulate sand in battle, making it an interesting choice in teams oriented toward control and endurance.
Sandaconda is the direct evolution of Silicobra and represents a logical step forward in terms of stats and power. It is primarily encountered in Pokémon Sword and Shield as well as Pokémon Violet, where it often occupies desert or arid areas. Its design and gameplay are clearly oriented toward defensive combat and wearing down opponents.
General information and battle role
In the Pokédex, Sandaconda is described as a Pokémon capable of projecting sand at high pressure to disorient its enemies. In battle, it stands out with very high Defense and a decent HP total, allowing it to absorb many physical hits.
Thanks to its Ground typing, Sandaconda is immune to Electric type moves, an important strategic advantage. On the other hand, it remains vulnerable to Water, Grass, and Ice type moves, which means players need to anticipate opposing Pokémon switches carefully.
Stats and evolution level
Sandaconda evolves from Silicobra starting at level 36. At that point, its stats receive a clear boost, particularly in Defense and Attack. It then becomes much more viable in solo battle as well as in more advanced strategies.
Main type: Ground
Evolution: Silicobra into Sandaconda at level 36
Orientation: physical Defense and constant pressure
Useful moves and abilities
Sandaconda's movepool is heavily focused on terrain control and progressive damage. It naturally learns several powerful Ground moves that take advantage of its decent Attack stat.
Earthquake for dealing heavy damage in battle
Sandstorm for applying constant pressure
Crunch to cover certain opposing types
Coil to raise both its Defense and Attack
Its most appreciated ability in battle is the one that enhances its capabilities during sandstorms, making Sandaconda even harder to knock out on a well-suited team.
Sandaconda in Pokémon cards
Sandaconda also exists as a Pokémon card, with several versions from different sets. Some cards highlight its high HP and sand-based moves, faithfully reflecting its video game playstyle.
Sandaconda Pokémon cards are generally appreciated by collectors for their imposing artwork and by players for their resilience. Rarer variants such as Sandaconda V can also be found, offering more powerful moves and a stronger presence on the field.
Appeal for players and collectors
For players, Sandaconda is a reliable Pokémon in extended battles, especially on teams that exploit sandstorms. For collectors, its cards offer strong visual value and integrate well into sets focused on Ground type Pokémon.
Sandaconda therefore remains a versatile Pokémon, appreciated as much for its strategic qualities as for its presence in battles and trading card collections.
