General overview of Ribombee
Ribombee is a Fairy and Flying type Pokémon known for its exceptional Speed and strategic role in battle. Its Japanese name is アブリボン. The evolution of Cutiefly, Ribombee first appears in the Alola region and stands out for its highly offensive playstyle based on speed and special moves. In the Pokédex, it is described as a Pokémon capable of controlling the wind and dispersing energetic pollen to weaken its opponents.
Ribombee is often sought out by players for its usefulness in tactical battles, particularly from level 25 onwards where it becomes fully exploitable. Its size is small, which contrasts with its strategic strength. It is particularly appreciated in Pokémon GO for its speed and access to powerful Fairy moves.
Type and base stats
Ribombee has the dual type Fairy and Flying, which gives it interesting resistances against Fighting, Bug, and Dark type moves. In return, it remains vulnerable to Fire, Poison, Rock, Electric, and Ice moves. Its Defense is average, but its Speed stat is one of the highest among Pokémon of its generation.
Its base stats emphasise Special Attack and Speed. In battle, Ribombee is designed to strike quickly and retreat before taking too much damage. Its low HP total, however, demands good anticipation of opposing moves.
Evolution and how to obtain
Ribombee is the direct evolution of Cutiefly. The evolution is triggered simply by levelling up, without any specific item, starting at level 25. This evolution marks a real gain in Speed, power, and access to more effective moves.
In terms of capture, Ribombee can be encountered in certain specific areas depending on the Sun and Moon versions, often linked to flowery or windy environments. The catch rate is moderate, which may require the use of appropriate Poké Balls or status conditions.
Notable moves and abilities
Ribombee has a wide choice of moves focused on the Fairy and Bug types, although its primary combat type remains Fairy. Dazzling Gleam is one of its most popular moves for dealing consistent damage. It can also learn Bug Buzz, a powerful move that lowers the opponent's Special Attack.
Thanks to its Speed, Ribombee is very effective with priority moves and support abilities such as Fairy Wind. In Pokémon GO, its move set makes it viable in low-level raids and in battles against other trainers, especially when it reaches its max CP.
Strategic use and Pokémon cards
In a strategic context, Ribombee is often used as a special sweeper. It comes in to quickly eliminate specific threats before being knocked out. Its natural grace and wind control make it an excellent choice for fast-paced teams.
On the card side, Ribombee appears on several cards highlighting its speed and magical moves. These cards are sought after by collectors for their design and by players for their potential in competitive play. When used well, Ribombee can become a key piece both in the video game and in the trading card game.
