Overview of Marshadow
Marshadow is a mythical Pokémon introduced in the seventh generation. Its English name is Marshadow and its Japanese name is マーシャドー. This Fighting and Ghost type Pokémon stands out for its discreet appearance and its direct connection to shadows. It is closely associated with Pokémon Sun and Moon, as well as event content and limited distributions.
Marshadow holds a unique place in the legends Pokédex thanks to its rare and highly effective type combination in battle. It has no evolution and remains in a single form throughout the games. Access to it is generally restricted to special events, which increases its appeal for players and collectors.
Type and battle role
The Fighting and Ghost type gives Marshadow excellent offensive potential. It benefits from key immunities and interesting resistances, notably against Normal and Fighting type moves. In return, it must remain vigilant against Flying, Fairy, Psychic and Ghost type moves.
In competitive battle, Marshadow is often used as a fast attacker. Its high base Speed allows it to outpace many opponents and strike first. It is particularly formidable in competitive formats where tempo management is essential.
Base stats
Balanced HP allowing a decent presence on the field
Very high Attack suited for physical damage
Average Defense and Special Defense
High Speed favoring fast offensive strategies
Key moves and attacks
Marshadow has a set of moves focused on close combat and shadow. Its signature move, capable of temporarily stealing the opponent's stat boosts, makes it a formidable choice against Pokémon focused on stat increases.
It can learn powerful Fighting type moves, combined with Ghost type moves that bypass certain protections. This offensive versatility makes it hard to predict, especially when used with a Nature that boosts Speed or Attack.
Use based on level and EVs
At high level, Marshadow is often optimized with EVs in Attack and Speed. This distribution maximizes its immediate impact. It is rarely used as a defensive wall, its primary role remaining the swift elimination of key targets.
Presence in Pokémon games
Marshadow appears primarily through special distributions in several games in the franchise. It is linked to event missions and sometimes to DLC or special content. Obtaining it is generally not automatic and requires participation in limited events.
In recent games and certain spin-off projects such as Pokémon Z-A, Marshadow remains a highly anticipated Pokémon by the community, notably for its competitive potential and its status as a rare Legendary.
Marshadow in the TCG
The Pokémon Marshadow card is very popular among collectors. It exists in several forms, including holographic and alternate versions. Some cards highlight its shadow moves and its ability to disrupt the opponent's strategy.
In the TCG, Marshadow is often used as a technical card to counter strategies based on Abilities or stat boosts. Its value varies by edition, condition and rarity, making it a sought-after card on the market.
Appeal for players and collectors
Marshadow combines a strong visual identity, aggressive gameplay and limited availability. These elements make it a highly prized Pokémon for both battle and collecting. Its connection to shadows and legends reinforces its special status in the Pokémon world.
