Detailed information

General Overview of Kingler

Kingler, known in Japanese as キングラー, is a Water type Pokémon highly appreciated for its massive claw and physical power. In the Pokédex, its information highlights its raw strength and its ability to use moves based on the crushing pressure of its claws. Kingler evolves from Krabby at level 28, making it an accessible evolution from the first coastal areas and beaches. Its description across the various generations insists on its hard shell, aggressive behavior and giant claw capable of crushing even boulders. Players often encounter it near water, on coastal routes or on islands.

Kingler also benefits from a special form in certain games through the Gigantamax Kingler, which modifies its appearance and boosts the power of certain moves. Its large size and significant weight give it an advantage in close-contact battles, especially thanks to its blade-like claws and its main claw that can reach considerable power. Players looking for a Water Pokémon focused on raw strength will find an excellent ally in Kingler.

Kingler's Stats and Characteristics

Kingler's stats are centered on physical Attack and Defense. Its Attack is among the highest of base Water type Pokémon, allowing it to maximize moves like Crabhammer or Guillotine. However, its HP and Special Defense remain lower, which demands careful management against Water, Grass or Ice moves. Its naturally allocated EV is in Attack.

Kingler has the Hyper Cutter ability, which prevents its Attack from being lowered, as well as the hidden ability Sheer Force, useful for putting pressure on opponents carrying Berries. The differences between a male and a female are slight, often limited to small size variations.

Most Useful Moves and Abilities

Kingler has a wide range of effective physical moves. Among the immediate and fast moves, one finds Scratch, Poison Jab via TM in certain versions, and Water Gun at the start of its training. At higher levels, it learns powerful moves like Crabhammer, Bubble, Brick Break and Water Pulse. In recent games, it can also benefit from enhanced Water moves or Ground and mud-based hits to vary its battle options. In Pokémon GO, Kingler makes good use of fast moves like Mud Shot or Bubble, paired with charged moves such as Crabhammer, which is highly appreciated for its power.

Evolution and Encounter Locations

Krabby's evolution into Kingler at level 28 is straightforward and requires no particular item. Players can thus obtain it quickly after capturing a Krabby on a beach, a shoreline or certain aquatic routes. Across several generations, Krabby and Kingler are available near islands, in channels or in shallow maritime areas. Encounter rates vary but are often sufficient to build a balanced Water team.

Kingler's Strategic Use

In competitive play, Kingler is recommended for teams looking for a physically powerful Pokémon. Its extremely high Attack allows it to break through the defenses of many opponents. Players must, however, anticipate its weaknesses to certain Grass or Electric moves, which are very dangerous. Its most classic set relies on Crabhammer, Brick Break, a reliable Water move and possibly a support move depending on the generation. Sun, White, Black and other versions offer varied options with TMs that can improve its performance.

In battle, its main intimidating effect comes from its massive claw, capable of causing immediate chaos in certain situations. Moreover, its appearance in Pokémon cards often features a powerful visual style, with imagery representing waves, shattered rocks and foam strikes. Collectors appreciate shiny and holographic versions, as well as Kingler cards from older sets.

Thanks to its power, its simple evolution and the variety of its moves, Kingler remains a reliable and appreciated choice both in the main games and in Pokémon GO, and even in physical card collections.
