General overview of Granbull
Granbull is a Fairy-type Pokémon introduced in the second generation. Its Japanese name is グランブル, a useful piece of information for players interested in international versions of the game and imported cards. Granbull is the direct evolution of Snubbull and stands out for its intimidating appearance, dominated by massive fangs and a particularly developed lower jaw.
Despite its aggressive look, Granbull is known in the Pokédex for being timid and reluctant to fight without provocation. This duality between appearance and behavior makes it an interesting Pokémon to use strategically, notably for surprising the opponent. In Pokémon GO, Granbull is often sought for its good offensive potential against certain specific types.
Type and strategic resistances
Granbull is a pure Fairy-type Pokémon. This type grants it very useful natural resistances in battle, notably against Fighting, Dark, and Bug-type attacks. It is also completely immune to the Dragon type, making it an excellent counter in competitive teams or during certain scripted battles.
On the other hand, Granbull remains vulnerable to Poison and Steel-type attacks. This weakness must be anticipated when building a balanced team, especially in strategic play or when facing specific bosses in Pokémon GO.
Base stats and IV potential
Granbull's base stats are oriented toward physical Attack. It has high Attack which allows it to fully exploit its enormous fangs and raw power. Its Defense and HP are decent without being exceptional, while its Speed remains relatively low, which often places it in the role of a slow offensive Pokémon.
For players attentive to IVs, Granbull can become very interesting when it has high IVs in Attack and HP. In Pokémon GO, a Granbull close to max IVs is particularly effective in arenas and in certain specific raid battles, even though it remains dependent on its charged moves.
Moves and battle usage
Granbull naturally learns several powerful physical moves showcasing its jaw and fangs. Fairy-type moves form its offensive core, but it can also access Dark or Fighting-type moves via TMs, which reinforces its offensive coverage.
In classic battle, Granbull is often used as a direct counter to Dragon or Dark-type Pokémon. Its low Speed requires anticipation of opposing attacks. Well used, it can deal heavy damage in few turns, especially if the opponent underestimates its power.
Granbull in Pokémon GO
In Pokémon GO, Granbull is appreciated for its role as an effective counter against Dragons and certain Fighting-type Pokémon. Its max level depends on investment in Stardust and Candy, and it becomes truly competitive at high levels. Its max CP remains decent without placing it among the very best absolute attackers in the game.
It is used primarily in the Great League or the Ultra League depending on its IVs. A well-optimized Granbull can surprise opponents thanks to its fast and charged moves, although its relative fragility requires good timing management.
Pokémon cards and collecting interest
Granbull regularly appears in Pokémon card series, often depicted showcasing its enormous fangs and menacing air. Certain cards feature dynamic illustrations greatly appreciated by collectors, even though Granbull is generally more sought after for gameplay than for its financial value.
Granbull cards are nonetheless interesting in certain Fairy or control-oriented decks, depending on the sets. They also make a good complement for collectors wishing to complete the Snubbull evolutionary line.
