Detailed information

Overview of Mega Pinsir

This new form greatly improves its stats and completely changes its role in battle. Thanks to its Aerilate Ability in the main games, its Normal-type moves become Flying-type moves with a power bonus. For competitive players, Mega Pinsir becomes a fearsome physical attacker capable of dealing enormous damage in just a few turns.

In the Pokédex, Mega Pinsir is described as even more aggressive than its standard form. Its weight reaches approximately 59.0 kg and its height is around 1.7 m. This increase in weight and power reinforces its offensive potential but also makes it harder to control on the field.

Stats and battle potential

Base stats

Mega Pinsir's stats are significantly higher than those of Pinsir. Its Attack climbs to a very high level, greatly surpassing the base of many other Bug-type Pokémon. Its Defense remains decent, while its HP does not increase compared to the standard form. Its Speed also improves, allowing it to strike before many opponents.

In a competitive format, its dual Bug and Flying typing grants it new resistances but also notable weaknesses. It particularly fears Rock-type moves such as Rock Slide or Stone Edge, which deal quadruple damage. It also remains vulnerable to Electric, Ice, and Fire types.

Strategic role

Mega Pinsir excels as a physical sweeper. After a Swords Dance, its power becomes difficult to wall, even for defensive tanks. On the field, it benefits from the bonus tied to its moves converted to Flying type to maximize its DPS. Players must, however, keep an eye on weather and Stealth Rock, which can greatly reduce its HP each time it switches in.

Best moves for Mega Pinsir

In the main games

Among the best moves, you will find Return or Frustration, which become Flying type thanks to its Ability. X-Scissor remains an excellent Bug-type option for hitting Psychic or Dark Pokémon. Earthquake provides coverage against Fire and Electric types, while Close Combat improves its offensive coverage.

  • X-Scissor - reliable Bug-type move

  • Return - converted to Flying type with bonus

  • Earthquake - coverage against Fire and Electric

  • Swords Dance - massive Attack boost

The choice depends on the level of play and the format. In advanced strategy, managing timing and predictions is essential to maximize its impact.

Mega Pinsir in Pokémon GO

In Pokémon GO, Mega Pinsir is available during special events and Mega Raids. It becomes one of the best Bug and Flying attackers for raids, particularly against bosses weak to these types. Its DPS is high and its max CP increases significantly at level 50.

To optimize Mega Pinsir in Pokémon GO, prioritize Flying and Bug-type moves depending on the boss you are facing. Weather such as Sunny or Windy can grant a damage bonus. In raids, it also boosts other Pokémon of the same type thanks to the Mega bonus, increasing the team's overall damage output.

In terms of obtaining it, you first need to collect Mega Energy via raids. Once the form is unlocked, you can reuse it multiple times at a reduced cost. This page highlights essential information to fully exploit Mega Pinsir's potential in battle and in raids.
