Detailed information

Overview of Mega Mewtwo Y

Unlike Mewtwo X which gains the Fighting type, Mega Mewtwo Y remains pure Psychic type. Its body becomes slimmer, its head elongates, and its tail stretches behind it, reinforcing its cerebral and strategic appearance. This Pokémon is genderless, possessing neither male nor female, which makes it unique in the game.

The Mega Evolution is triggered by the Mewtwonite Y in battle. Once activated, Mega Mewtwo Y reaches a level of power rarely matched, making it a formidable unit in both competitive battles and raids.

Base stats and strategic orientation

The base stats of Mega Mewtwo Y are oriented toward Special Attack and Speed. Its extremely high Speed allows it to attack first in the vast majority of encounters. Its Special Attack reaches an exceptional rank, maximizing the damage dealt by its Psychic moves.

Its HP remain decent but its physical Defense is weaker than that of Mewtwo X. It must therefore be played strategically, taking advantage of its Speed and offensive power to eliminate the opponent in a few turns.

In EV distribution, players generally favor:

  • 252 EVs in Special Attack

  • 252 EVs in Speed

  • 4 EVs in HP

This optimization allows you to fully exploit its raw power in ranked battles or strategic play.

Most effective moves and abilities

Mega Mewtwo Y has a wide movepool. Among the best moves you will find Confusion, Psychic, Ice Beam, Flamethrower, and Shadow Ball. Thanks to its Special Attack base, these moves deal massive damage, often capable of knocking out opponents in a single hit.

Ice Beam covers Dragon and Flying types, Flamethrower handles Steel and Bug types, while Shadow Ball effectively hits Ghost and other Psychic types. This diversity allows Mega Mewtwo Y to adapt to almost any team.

In certain formats, it can also use Calm Mind to further increase its power and become practically uncontrollable if the opponent lacks priority moves or appropriate resistances.

Use in raids and across different games

In the main games, Mega Mewtwo Y is considered one of the most powerful Pokémon ever created. In raids, when available during special events, it ranks among the best Psychic attackers in the game thanks to its Speed and high damage output.

It excels against Fighting or Poison type bosses. However, it remains weak against Dark, Ghost, and Bug types. It is therefore important to watch for opponent weaknesses before sending it into battle.

Cards and collecting

In the Trading Card Game, Mega Mewtwo Y EX is a highly sought-after card. Mega cards tied to Mewtwo often benefit from impressive artwork, with red, purple, and star effects highlighting its overwhelming form.

The value of the cards depends on their condition, grade, and the generation of the expansion. Collectors particularly appreciate secret rare or full art versions. For players, these Mega cards offer great offensive capability, consistent with the video game version.

Mega Mewtwo Y remains today a reference in terms of power, Speed, and strategic impact in the Pokémon universe.
