General overview of Mega Mawile

In the main games of the Pokémon series, Mega Mawile appears starting from the sixth generation thanks to the Mega Evolution system introduced in Pokémon X and Y. This temporary evolution is triggered when a trainer uses the specific Mega Stone during a battle. The Pokémon Mawile then gains a second large jaw behind its head, giving it a very recognizable look in the Pokédex.

The Mega Evolution greatly modifies Mawile's base stats. Its Attack becomes extremely high, making it a formidable Pokémon in strategic battles. On the other hand, its Speed remains fairly average, which often requires players to build a team capable of compensating for this weakness.

Stats and important characteristics

Mega Mawile has base stats very much oriented toward physical Attack. Its offensive power increases enormously compared to Mawile's base form. Players particularly appreciate this evolution for its ability to deal heavy damage with Fairy or Steel type moves.

  • Type: Steel and Fairy

  • National Pokédex: #303 for Mawile

  • Category: Deceiver Pokémon

  • Generation: third generation for the base form, Mega Evolution introduced in Generation 6

  • Height: approximately 1 m

  • Weight: approximately 23 kg in Mega form

The Mega Mawile form has two enormous jaws capable of crushing almost anything. According to the Pokédex description, these jaws are so powerful they can destroy steel. This characteristic explains why this Pokémon is often used as a physical attacker in competitive teams.

Strategic use in battle

In a strategic build, Mega Mawile is considered an extremely dangerous Pokémon thanks to its very high Attack. Its special Ability often doubles the power of certain physical moves, which can quickly turn a battle around.

Players often use moves like Play Rough or Iron Head to take advantage of its dual typing. These moves allow it to deal significant damage against many opposing types. In battle, Mega Mawile works particularly well on teams capable of slowing down the opponent or setting traps.

Due to its average Speed, some trainers choose a nature that boosts Attack or Defense to optimize its role as an offensive tank. EVs are often distributed to maximize Attack and HP in order to increase its longevity on the field.

Mega Mawile in the Pokémon TCG

The Pokémon also appears in several popular Pokémon TCG cards. The Mega Mawile EX card is among the cards sought after by both collectors and TCG players. This version generally has a powerful attack and a high HP count.

Mawile EX and Mega Mawile EX cards are available in various Pokémon TCG expansions. The price can vary depending on rarity, the card's condition and the available version. Some Ultra Rare or Full Art cards reach a higher average value on the collector market.

Players building a deck around Mawile appreciate these cards for their offensive potential. A Mega Mawile card can, for example, deal heavy damage while offering solid resilience thanks to its high HP count.

Additional information for players

In the Pokémon games, Mega Mawile is often used in strategic formats because it has excellent offensive potential. Despite its limited Speed, its ability to deal heavy damage makes it a very popular choice for surprising an opponent.

Its form remains one of the most visually striking Mega Evolutions. With its two large jaws and its deceptive appearance, Mawile holds a unique place in the Pokédex and in the teams of trainers looking for a Pokémon capable of turning a battle around in just a few moves.
