Mega Lucario
Mega Lucario is the Mega Evolved form of Lucario. This Pokémon is known in English as Mega Lucario and in Japanese as メガ ルカリオ. It is a Fighting and Steel type Pokémon introduced with the Mega Evolution mechanic in the sixth generation. This temporary transformation greatly increases its power and slightly alters its appearance.

General overview of Mega Lucario
Mega Lucario was revealed in the September 2013 issue of CoroCoro Comics magazine. This reveal occurred at the same time as several other major Mega Evolutions such as Mega Mewtwo Y, Mega Ampharos and Mega Absol. It is also known for being the first Mega Pokémon recorded in the Kalos region.
Mega Evolution occurs when Lucario holds the Lucarite during battle. This transformation releases a large amount of aura and modifies its combat style. Mega Lucario then becomes extremely aggressive and relentlessly attacks its opponent, guided by a particularly intense fighter's instinct.
Appearance and characteristics
In its Mega Evolved form, Lucario visibly changes appearance. It develops a thick beige coat on its chest and tail. The color black takes up more space on its body, reducing the visible blue areas. Its thighs also appear slimmer.
Its eyes become orange-red and two additional spikes appear on its chest at the shoulder blades. Its fists and feet turn scarlet and each has a pair of spikes, those at the tips being longer. Its hair-like appendages also lengthen, with two of them featuring red tips.
When Shiny, Mega Lucario shows very visible differences. The blue areas of its body turn yellow, the fur on its chest and tail becomes light blue and the red tips take on a pinkish hue.
Evolution and ability
Lucario is the evolution of Riolu. To obtain this evolution, Riolu must level up during the daytime while having a high friendship level. Once Lucario is obtained, it can trigger Mega Evolution by holding a Lucarite.
Since Pokémon Legends: Z-A, there is also another form called Mega Lucario Z which requires a Lucarite Z. This variation relies on the same transformation principle but with a specific item.
Mega Lucario's main ability is Adaptability. This ability greatly boosts the power of moves that share the same type as the Pokémon. Normally, a same-type move receives a power bonus of 1.5. With Adaptability, this bonus is multiplied by 2, making Fighting and Steel moves particularly dangerous in battle.
