Detailed information

General overview of Mega Gallade

This Mega form greatly improves the Pokémon's stats and enhances its effectiveness in battle. Mega Gallade is particularly oriented toward physical attack and speed, allowing it to deal fast and powerful blows thanks to the blades located on its arms.

Gallade holds the number 475 in the Pokédex and belongs to the Ralts evolutionary family. This line includes Ralts, Kirlia, then Gallade under certain conditions. Mega Evolution is a temporary transformation used exclusively during battles.

Mega Gallade was revealed on September 10, 2014 in a leak from the Japanese magazine CoroCoro Comics. This reveal happened at the same time as those of Mega Sharpedo and Mega Camerupt, introducing new Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Appearance of Mega Gallade

Mega Gallade has an appearance inspired by a gladiator. During its Mega Evolution, its body changes and several elements of its design become more imposing.

It gains a large cape divided into two parts with ends cut into three sections. The protrusion at the top of its head becomes larger and takes on a hooked shape. The red spike on its chest transforms into a more visible red triangle.

The green color of the Pokémon becomes much less present, remaining mainly on the head. The blades at its elbows become red and larger, accentuating its combat style based on slashing attacks.

When it is Shiny, certain colors change. The hair becomes blue, the blades on its arms become orange, and the inside of the cape as well as the blade above its head become black.

Evolution and how to obtain

Mega Gallade belongs to the Ralts evolutionary family. The first stage is Ralts, which evolves into Kirlia starting at level 20.

Kirlia can then evolve in two different ways depending on certain conditions. Starting at level 30, it can evolve into Gardevoir. However, if Kirlia is male and uses a Dawn Stone, it evolves into Gallade.

Once this evolution is obtained, Gallade can transform into Mega Gallade during battles if it holds a Galladite. This Mega Evolution only lasts for the duration of the battle.

This species is made up exclusively of male individuals, as Gallade itself can only be obtained from a male Kirlia.

Mega Gallade's stats

Mega Gallade's stats are strongly oriented toward physical attack and speed, making it a particularly dangerous Pokémon when it uses Fighting or Psychic type moves.

  • HP: 68

  • Attack: 165

  • Defense: 95

  • Special Attack: 65

  • Special Defense: 115

  • Speed: 110

These stats allow Mega Gallade to hit very hard while maintaining high speed. In many strategies, players invest EVs in Attack and Speed to maximize its offensive performance.

Ability and battle usage

Mega Gallade has the Inner Focus ability. This ability prevents enemy moves from making it flinch, ensuring it can act normally in battle without suffering that effect.

Thanks to its stats and its Psychic and Fighting typing, this Pokémon can learn several effective moves capable of dealing significant damage. Its sharp blades and speed allow it to land fast hits against many opponents.

In competitive battles, Mega Gallade is often used as a fast physical attacker. Players generally use powerful moves combined with an appropriate EV spread to maximize the power of its hits and take full advantage of its improved stats.

Mega Gallade in the Pokémon TCG

Mega Gallade also appears in the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Some cards depict this Mega form under the name Mega Gallade.

These cards often feature powerful attacks capable of dealing heavy damage in exchange for a higher energy cost. Cards related to Gallade or its Mega Evolution are appreciated in certain offensive strategies.

For collectors, cards depicting Mega Gallade also hold an interesting place in series dedicated to Mega Evolutions in the Pokémon TCG.
