Detailed information

General Overview of Eldegoss

Eldegoss is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in the Galar region. Its Japanese name is ワタシラガ. It is the final evolution of Gossifleur, recognizable by its massive cotton ball that directly influences its battle abilities and strategic role. Eldegoss is often appreciated for its decent HP, its ability to support a team, and its defensive versatility rather than for high raw damage output.

Type and battle role

Eldegoss has a pure Grass typing, which grants it interesting resistances but also several notable weaknesses. In battles, it is rarely used as a primary attacker. Its value lies mainly in its endurance, its utility moves, and its ability to wear down opponents over time. Thanks to its access to support moves, it integrates well into control-oriented or stalling teams.

Its relatively high HP compensates for its average Defense, allowing it to absorb several hits before going down. However, its Speed remains modest, which often requires anticipating opposing actions.

Stats and general values

Eldegoss's base stats are clearly oriented toward survival and support. Its Attack and Special Attack are limited, which reduces its direct damage potential. On the other hand, its HP and Special Defense allow it to stay on the field for a long time.

  • HP solid for a support Pokémon

  • Low damage output without specific investment

  • Good resistance to special moves

  • Modest Speed, rarely a priority in battles

Ability and talents

Eldegoss's most iconic ability is Cotton Down, which slightly heals its allies when it leaves the field. This ability reinforces its utility role and makes it particularly interesting in team battles or double formats. It allows players to optimize Pokémon switches and provide constant value without attacking.

Depending on its set, Eldegoss can also benefit from moves oriented around terrain control or the gradual weakening of opponents.

Moves and strategic usage

Eldegoss primarily learns Grass-type moves and support abilities. It is rarely used to deal massive damage, but rather to hinder opponents and stabilize a battle. Its moves allow it to apply useful secondary effects and maintain indirect pressure.

  • Grass moves for minimal damage

  • Healing or support moves

  • Techniques to reduce the effectiveness of opponents

In Gigantamax formats, Eldegoss can temporarily gain in power and HP, which improves its field presence without, however, turning it into a genuine offensive threat.

Availability and Pokédex information

Eldegoss is available in Pokémon Sword and Shield, primarily in certain wild areas of Galar. It often appears in nature-related environments such as plains and open areas. It is not considered a legendary Pokémon, but remains appreciated for its reliability and its ease of integration into many teams.

In the Pokédex, Eldegoss is described as using its cotton to carry seeds over long distances, which explains its playstyle centered on support and endurance rather than immediate action.

Eldegoss in cards and other modes

In the Pokémon TCG, Eldegoss is often represented with effects tied to HP, healing, or damage reduction. These cards faithfully reflect its role in the main games. In alternative modes such as Pokémon UNITE, its support concept remains consistent, though its stats and moves are adapted to the faster pace of those battles.
