Detailed information

Overview of Couaneton

Couaneton is a Water and Flying-type Pokémon introduced in the fifth generation. Its English name is Ducklett and its Japanese name is コアルヒー. It belongs to the Unova region and represents a small aquatic duck often encountered near wetlands. For players, Couaneton is best known as an interesting base to train early in the adventure, with a clear evolution path toward Lakmecygne that greatly strengthens its stats.

Type, Generation, and Role in the Game

Couaneton combines the Water and Flying types, giving it a particular defensive profile. It is immune to Ground-type attacks thanks to its Flying type, but remains vulnerable to Electric and Rock attacks. Early in the game, this Pokémon can be of good service thanks to its quick access to reliable Water attacks and support abilities. In the Pokédex, it is often described as a Pokémon that lives in groups, capable of diving and swimming for a long time in calm waters.

Strategically, Couaneton is not designed to remain long in competitive battles. Its main interest is to prepare for evolution into Lakmecygne, which offers much better Speed, Special Defense, and offensive pressure stats.

Base Stats and IVs

Couaneton's base stats are modest, which is normal for a first-stage Pokémon. Its HP is decent without being high, its Defense remains average, and its Special Attack is slightly more usable than its physical Attack. Its Speed is sufficient to outpace certain wild Pokémon but insufficient for more advanced battles.

For players attentive to IVs, Couaneton can be worth catching several times in order to optimize its values before evolution. Good IVs in Speed and Special Attack are recommended to maximize its future potential. In breeding, it is relatively simple to reproduce, which makes it easier to obtain an optimized individual.

Moves and Learning

Couaneton naturally learns several Water moves such as Water Gun and Bubble, ideal early in the game. It can also access Flying moves that provide decent coverage against certain Grass and Bug types. Via TMs, it can learn utility moves such as Defog or Dive, which reinforces its interest during exploration.

  • Fast Water moves for handling standard battles

  • Flying moves useful against Grass and Fighting

  • Support abilities for exploration and progression

Catch Rate and Encounters

Couaneton's catch rate is rather favorable, making it an accessible Pokémon for all players. It is generally encountered in the wild near water areas, particularly in swamps and sphagnum-covered locations. Its appearance level varies by area, but it often stays below level 20.

Its small size and calm behavior make it an easy Pokémon to approach. In rainy conditions, encounters may be slightly more frequent depending on the version.

Couaneton in the Pokémon Card Game

In the Trading Card Game, Couaneton appears as a basic card with simple attacks, often geared toward setup or low damage. These cards are mainly used to complete evolutionary lines or in thematic Water decks. They are inexpensive and accessible to beginner collectors.

For TCG players, Couaneton mainly serves as a transition toward Lakmecygne, whose cards generally offer better effects and a stronger presence on the field.

Evolution and Overall Use

Couaneton evolves into Lakmecygne starting at level 35. This evolution completely transforms its combat utility, with a clear gain in power and Speed. Investing time in training Couaneton is therefore worthwhile if one wishes to include an effective Water and Flying-type Pokémon in their team.

In summary, Couaneton is a reliable base-stage Pokémon, designed to accompany the first hours of gameplay, prepare for a solid evolution, and offer a simple but coherent experience for players and collectors alike.
