Overview of Drakloak
Drakloak is a Ghost and Dragon type Pokémon introduced in the Galar region. Its Japanese name is ドラパルト. It is the penultimate form before Dragapult, evolving from Dreepy, making it a highly anticipated Pokémon for players seeking a fast and effective evolution line oriented towards Speed and offensive pressure.
Drakloak is known for leading into one of the fastest Pokémon of its generation in its final form, which makes it particularly dangerous in competitive battles. Thanks to its dual Ghost and Dragon typing, it has an excellent range of attacks and formidable offensive coverage, while remaining fragile on the defensive side.
Evolution and evolutionary line
Drakloak represents the second stage of the evolutionary line that begins with Dreepy. Evolution occurs naturally by leveling up.
Dreepy evolves into Drakloak at level 50
Drakloak evolves into Dragapult at level 60
This late evolution is offset by very high final stats, particularly in Speed and Attack, which fully justifies the investment in experience.
Type and weaknesses
Drakloak is a Ghost and Dragon type. This combination grants it several interesting resistances but also notable weaknesses against certain common types.
Main weaknesses: Ice, Dragon, Fairy, Dark
Notable immunities: Normal and Fighting
Useful resistances: Fire, Water, Electric, Bug
When used well, Drakloak can enter the field thanks to its immunities and immediately exert pressure on the opponent.
Stats and potential at level 50
The base stats of the Drakloak line are clearly oriented towards Attack and Speed. At level 50, the final form stands out for exceptional Speed, often surpassing the majority of opposing Pokémon.
Decent but not high HP
High Attack and Special Attack
Speed among the highest in the Pokédex
Low Defense and Special Defense
This profile makes it an excellent sweeper, capable of ending a battle quickly if well protected.
Abilities and key moves
The Drakloak line has very useful abilities in battle. Its most popular ability boosts the power of its attacks or allows it to avoid certain opposing attacks depending on the game version.
In terms of moves, it has access to a wide selection of Dragon and Ghost type moves, as well as coverage attacks to surprise its natural counters.
High-power Ghost type attacks
Reliable and fast Dragon type moves
Access to support and setup moves
Use in battle and strategies
In battle, Drakloak and its evolution are primarily used as fast attackers. They excel in hit-and-run strategies, striking before the opponent and withdrawing if necessary. Their Speed allows them to outpace most Pokémon at level 50 and even at level 40 in certain cases.
It is recommended to pair them with partners capable of setting up defensive walls or managing Fairy and Ice types, which represent a real threat.
Place in the Pokédex and availability
Drakloak occupies an important place in the Galar Pokédex. It is generally rare in the wild and requires breeding or a well-managed evolution chain to be obtained efficiently.
Its shiny version is highly sought after by collectors and competitive players, which further enhances its appeal in the games and in trading cards tied to the eighth generation.
