Detailed information

Overview of Ceruledge

Ceruledge is a Pokémon of the Fire and Ghost type introduced in the ninth generation. It is known by the French name Malvalame and the Japanese name ソウブレイズ. This Pokémon is the direct evolution of Charcadet when it is exposed to a specific armor in Pokémon Violet. Its design centers on a spectral warrior wielding blades of flame, making it a highly appreciated Pokémon for strategic battle.

Ceruledge is defined by its strong offensive orientation while maintaining decent Defense. It is often compared to its Scarlet counterpart, which reinforces its appeal in version choice. In the Pokédex, it is described as a silent warrior whose flames absorb the life energy of its opponents.

Type and weaknesses

Ceruledge has the dual Fire and Ghost typing. This combination provides interesting resistances but also notable weaknesses. It resists attacks of the Fire, Grass, Ice, Bug, Poison, and Normal types. Conversely, it takes increased damage from Water, Rock, Ground, Dark, and Ghost attacks.

Its Ghost type also makes it immune to Normal and Fighting attacks, which is extremely useful in many matchups, particularly against combat-oriented Pokémon.

Base stats

Ceruledge's base stats are clearly geared toward physical Attack. It has decent HP with a base of around 75, allowing it to take a few hits without being too fragile. Its Attack reaches a high value close to 125, making it formidable with the right moves.

Its Defense sits around 80, while its Special Defense is lower, which means caution is required against special attacks. Its Speed is decent at a base of around 85, allowing it to outspeed many standard Pokémon without being among the fastest in the game.

Moves and abilities

Ceruledge has a wide array of Fire and Ghost moves. Its signature move is a Fire-type attack that deals damage while restoring a portion of its HP, which enhances its durability in battle. It can also learn powerful Ghost moves based on blades and flames.

Among the moves learned by level-up or through TMs, there are direct-damage options as well as strategic moves that can catch opponents off guard. Flame Charge is often used to boost its Speed while dealing Fire damage, improving its offensive potential over time.

Evolution and how to obtain it

Ceruledge is the evolution of Charcadet. To trigger this evolution, the player must use a specific armor obtained in Pokémon Violet. This item-based evolution mechanic makes Ceruledge exclusive to this version, which affects its availability without trading.

Charcadet can be caught in various locations across Paldea, then trained up to the required level before evolution. This mechanic encourages players to plan their progression to integrate Ceruledge effectively into their team.

Battle usage and strategy

In battle, Ceruledge is often used as a physical attacker. Its Ghost typing allows it to apply pressure on many defensive Pokémon. It excels in battles where it can switch in on an immunity or resistance and then chain powerful attacks.

It is particularly effective in strategic battles and against certain raids thanks to its ability to deal heavy damage while recovering HP. Used well, Ceruledge becomes a major asset for teams looking for an offensive Fire-type Pokémon with a unique identity.
