Overview of Bruxish
Bruxish is a Pokémon introduced in the seventh generation. Its English name is Bruxish and its Japanese name is ハギギシリ. It is immediately recognizable thanks to its vivid colors, prominent teeth, and aggressive appearance. Bruxish is a Water and Psychic-type Pokémon, a relatively rare dual typing that gives it interesting interactions in battle.
In the Pokédex, Bruxish is known for attacking its opponents by projecting powerful psychic waves through its teeth. These mental vibrations are capable of dealing significant damage, which explains its offensive specialization. It has no known evolutions, making it a single-form Pokémon, available directly in its final state.
Stats and Battle Potential
Bruxish has stats geared toward offense. Its offensive power rests primarily on its Attack and Special Attack, allowing it to effectively exploit its Water and Psychic moves. Its HP are decent without being exceptional, while its Defense remains average, making it vulnerable to powerful attacks if it does not strike first.
Its Speed is decent and allows it to outpace certain opponents, particularly at level 50, but it remains insufficient against very fast Pokémon. Strategically, Bruxish is often used as a direct attacker, capable of dealing heavy damage from the very first turns.
Types, Weaknesses, and Resistances
Thanks to its dual Water and Psychic type, Bruxish has useful resistances against Water, Fighting, Steel, Fire, and Psychic attacks. On the other hand, it has notable weaknesses to Electric, Grass, Ghost, Dark, and Bug types. These weaknesses must be taken into account when building a team around it.
Its Psychic typing also allows it to effectively counter certain opponents who specialize in physical combat, provided it does not take super-effective hits.
Notable Moves and Abilities
Bruxish has a wide selection of offensive moves. It can learn powerful Water attacks as well as formidable Psychic moves such as Psyshock. It also has access to Dark-type attacks like Crunch or Bite, broadening its offensive coverage.
Water attacks focused on direct damage
Psychic moves exploiting its special power
Fang moves to catch certain types off guard
Its Ability is a key element of its gameplay, boosting the impact of its attacks and accentuating its role as an aggressive attacker against an unprepared opponent.
Bruxish in Games and Pokémon Cards
Bruxish is available in several recent games such as Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, where it can be caught in specific aquatic areas. In Pokémon GO, it is appreciated for its originality but remains situational in raids due to its defensive weaknesses.
On the Pokémon card side, Bruxish exists in different versions, sometimes highlighted for their psychic shock attacks or disruptive effects. These cards primarily appeal to collectors attracted by colorful and atypical designs, as well as players looking for original cards for specific decks.
