General overview of Baxcalibur
Baxcalibur is a Dragon and Ice-type Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. Its Japanese name is セグレイブ. It represents the final stage of the evolutionary line starting with Frigibax and then Arctibax, making it a highly sought-after evolution by players focused on battle and team optimization.
Baxcalibur stands out for its massive appearance, large size, and bipedal stance reminiscent of a prehistoric dragon. It has an ice blade on its back, used as its primary weapon in battle. In the Pokédex, it is described as a Pokémon capable of surviving in extremely cold environments while maintaining an impressive offensive power.
Evolution and obtaining Baxcalibur
Baxcalibur is the direct evolution of Arctibax. This evolution occurs when Arctibax reaches a certain level, requiring a significant investment in experience. This evolution marks a major leap in terms of stats, particularly in HP and Attack.
In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, obtaining Baxcalibur can take time, as its earlier forms are relatively rare depending on the area. It can also appear in high-level raid battles, making it an interesting target for both solo and cooperative play.
Type, weaknesses, and resistances
Baxcalibur's Dragon and Ice typing gives it a fearsome offensive profile but also significant weaknesses. It can deal heavy damage with Dragon and Ice attacks, which are very effective against many popular types.
Notable weaknesses against Fighting, Rock, Steel, Fairy, and Dragon attacks
Useful resistances against Water, Electric, and Grass
This dual typing therefore requires good defensive management and intelligent positioning in battle.
Stats and competitive potential
Baxcalibur has a very high base Attack, making it an excellent physical attacker. Its HP is solid, allowing it to absorb several hits before going down. Its Defense and Special Defense are decent without being exceptional, sometimes requiring team support.
With proper EV investment, Baxcalibur can become a real endgame threat. Players often favor a nature boosting Attack or Speed to maximize its impact in competitive battles.
Moves learned
Baxcalibur can learn a wide range of powerful physical moves. It has Ice-type hits capable of breaking through defensive walls, as well as very reliable Dragon attacks for direct duels.
High-power physical attacks to deal massive damage
Ability to learn TM moves to broaden its coverage
Access to boosting moves to raise its Attack or Speed
It can also surprise opponents with certain secondary-effect moves like Crunch, useful against specific types.
Raids and strategy
In raids, Baxcalibur can be very effective thanks to its raw power. It is capable of quickly breaking through opposing shields, especially when well prepared with optimized EVs and a suitable ability. However, its vulnerability to several common types requires caution against raid bosses that have super-effective attacks.
On a balanced team, Baxcalibur often plays the role of a finisher. It can be brought in after defensive walls have been worn down and close out the battle thanks to its strength and devastating icy attacks.
Pokémon cards and collecting
Baxcalibur has several Pokémon cards appreciated by collectors. Some versions highlight its imposing form and ice blades with dynamic illustrations. Rare or ex Baxcalibur cards can reach a good price depending on their condition and print run.
Whether for play or collecting, Baxcalibur remains a very popular Pokémon in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet universe, both for its power and its striking design.
