Pikachu Promo Cards Revealed Ahead of the 2026 World Championships
At the end of the 2026 North America International Championships (NAIC), held from June 12 to 14 in New Orleans, the closing ceremony delivered several announcements. Among them were new Pikachu promo cards and the first details on the 2026 Pokémon World Championships. Here is everything that was shown.
A NAIC 2026 closing ceremony full of news
After three days of competition in New Orleans, Louisiana, the 2026 NAIC ended with its closing ceremony. It provided details on the location of the next edition of the tournament, as well as on the 2026 Pokémon World Championships that will close out the season.
The 2027 NAIC leaves New Orleans for Chicago
New Orleans had hosted the North America International Championships for three years. The next edition will move to a new city: the 2027 NAIC will take place in Chicago, Illinois.
The 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco
Before the 2027 season begins, one major event remains: the Pokémon World Championships. Worlds will take place from August 28 to 30, 2026, in San Francisco, California. This edition coincides with the 30th anniversary of the franchise.
As in previous years, a commemorative Paradise Resort promo card will be handed out to competitors. A preview of the Worlds Welcome Kit was also shown. It includes:
- a deck box;
- card sleeves;
- a playmat;
- and other accessories.
The items from the Champions line, reserved for the players who win their category, were revealed as well.
PokémonXP: a first edition and an exclusive Rayquaza card
The very first edition of PokémonXP will take place during the Worlds weekend. The event will bring together several exhibitors and partners, including LEGO. Visitors will be able to purchase a PokémonXP Pikachu plush, available at the Pokémon Center.
Above all, every fan attending PokémonXP and Worlds will receive a Rayquaza card stamped with the PokémonXP logo. This card will be exclusive to both events.
How to get the 2026 Worlds Pikachu promo card
Trainers who cannot travel to San Francisco will still be able to get the 2026 Worlds Pikachu card. They simply need to take part in a Worlds Celebration event held at their local Play! Pokémon Store. Full details will be shared later.
