The Mega Evolution - Pitch Black expansion for the Pokémon TCG continues to take shape. The Pokémon Company has shared a new preview of four cards from this set, scheduled for July 17, 2026. Four new cards for Mega Evolution - Pitch Black
The official preview highlights four cards that capture the set's identity. It features a Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, cards tied to fossils and to Pokémon with the word "Ancient" in their name, and ocean-dwelling creatures with discreet Abilities. Together, these cards illustrate the expansion's preferred play styles: control, gradual setup, and synergies built around specific Pokémon.
One of these cards also introduces a Pokémon with the Darkness type for the first time in the Pokémon TCG, in line with the set's overall theme.

Mega Evolution - Pitch Black centers on Darkness-type Pokémon from the Mega Dimension DLC of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The set features several Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, including Mega Darkrai ex, Mega Zeraora ex, Mega Chandelure ex, and Mega Excadrill ex.
Release date and set contents
The expansion releases on July 17, 2026, with prerelease tournaments held from July 4, 2026 at participating Play! Pokémon stores. A digital version is also planned through the Pokémon TCG Live app starting July 16, 2026.
In total, Mega Evolution - Pitch Black will include over 115 cards, with 84 standard cards and around thirty secret cards. The set contains six Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, along with more than 35 special illustrations featuring both Pokémon and Trainers.
